INALJ Turns 4 Today!

This year I just want to say Thanks!

We have no way of accurately knowing exactly how many people we have helped find jobs. We know it is significantly more than the 1500 we count but the job hunting process is stressful and often times job hunters don’t remember where they found a job. Just being a place they CAN find one is enough for us!  As of today we have 6,401 fans on Facebook, 6,907 LinkedIn group members, 6,007 Twitter followers, over 8,288,000 page views all time and have helped many LIS pros find jobs!

When I sent out my very first email of library jobs two days after starting what was at first the Library Jobs Daily Digest, then I Need a Library Job and finally INALJ. I thought I would do it for a year and hand it over to a new Rutgers student. Though I did start it on my own I thought it might be something that stayed within Rutgers and my first help came from co-founder Elizabeth Leonard, one of my classmates who set up the Facebook and Twitter pages and co-managed them with me for the first year. But it became clear that my specific vision coupled with an addiction to job hunting and the reward of hearing I helped someone find their job, that INALJ would be my project for the foreseeable future. I sent that first email of jobs to 6 classmates and by the end of the week to 31 in total, and now, 4 years later and over 8 million page views I just want to say…

THANKS!  Thanks to each and every single person who has volunteered their time with INALJ in any capacity. Putting together the list of jobs takes many volunteer hours each week and we all do it because we believe. Thanks to everyone, especially in the early days, who shared the jobs digest and website and were advocates for the work we do. This is a volunteer site but it takes a tremendous amount of work. Through vacations, health scares, weekends, and more I have not missed a day of INALJ in 4 years. Two years ago I threw a 2nd birthday party, last year I had my 1st miscarriage the day before the anniversary so I did not write anything up.

I know I am missing a few people so note in the comments if your name is not on here and When you volunteered at INALJ so I can check and add you!  This only lists people who completed their commitments (not those who volunteered and quit before doing any work). Below, not in any order at all…
