8 tips to pay your way to ALA<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\"AngieSolis\"<\/a>Each year librarians all across the world are invited to attend ALA\u2019s Annual and Mid-Winter Conferences. \u00a0But at $255<\/a>.00 (super early bird special) for the ALA Annual Conference plus hotel and airfare we\u2019re looking at a nice chunk of change to attend these events. \u00a0I\u2019m sure it\u2019s completely worth it but sometimes (as much as I want to attend) it\u2019s just not in the budget as I\u2019m sure is the case with many of you. \u00a0But maybe next year it can be in the budget. \u00a0There\u2019s easy ways to make some extra money and save your dollars to make the ALA Annual Conference a reality. \u00a0Let\u2019s take a looks at some ways to make some extra cash and get us to ALA.<\/p>\n

  1. Let go of your hoarding ways and sell some stuff<\/b>. \u00a0Many of us have closets and attics full of things that are no longer used and are still in great condition. \u00a0Go through your things and get rid of items that you have used in the last year and have no plans for. \u00a0You can have a garage sale or sell items on eBay or Craigslist. \u00a0While this seems like such an easy thing to do it\u2019s a lot harder than you think. \u00a0Definitely look at your unwanted Electronics, gently worn clothing and jewelry.<\/li>\n
  2. Teach\/Tutor<\/b>. Do you have a specialty subject? \u00a0Do you play an instrument? \u00a0Use your knowledge and abilities to teach others and bake some extra money in the process. \u00a0There are plenty of children and adults who may need some extra help or may want to learn something new.<\/li>\n
  3. Be a babysitter\/petsitter\/housesitter<\/b>. \u00a0Are you good with kids? \u00a0Do you want to petsit or walk dogs? Are you responsible enough to housesit? \u00a0There are definitely plenty of people who can\u2019t afford high end services and are willing to higher people like me and you to help with those services. \u00a0Check out Sitter City<\/a> if you like the kiddies. Care.com<\/a> if you want to help with furbabies or real babies. And Mind My House<\/a> if you don\u2019t want to deal with living creatures.<\/li>\n
  4. Become a Mystery Shopper<\/b>. \u00a0Mystery Shopping has gotten mixed reviews over the last couple years but if you find a legitimate company there\u2019s definitely a place to make some extra cash if your eligible. I found MarketForce<\/a> is a reputable company that is looking for Mystery Shoppers in every area around the United States.<\/li>\n
  5. Make and Sell things on <\/b>Etsy<\/b><\/a>. \u00a0Do you crochet or are you good with Photoshop? \u00a0There are so many opportunities to sell your original works on Etsy and a wide customer base looking at your goods. \u00a0There are definitely plenty of opportunities to make some extra cash while doing something you like to do.<\/li>\n
  6. Push referrals<\/b>. \u00a0Does your car dealer or internet company offer incentives for referring friends and family? \u00a0Start paying more attention to these incentives and start pushing the best ones to the people you know. \u00a0Make a note of which company offers what or if there are any special documents needs for referrals to be prepared. \u00a0Companies offer big bucks for referrals these days so this can definitely be a profitable option.<\/li>\n
  7. Sell your photos<\/b>. \u00a0Many stock photo websites have the opportunities for individuals to sell their photos online. \u00a0If you like taking photos check out sites like Crestock<\/a> or BigSockphoto<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  8. Answer Questions online<\/b>. Companies like ChaCha.com<\/a> hire Guides to answer questions online. \u00a0You get a small amount per question but anything helps and a little can add up to a lot depending on how many questions you answer.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
