A Change You Might Not\u00a0Even Notice<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

\"inalj<\/a>Next week INALJ will undergo a significant change in its volunteer structure…and if I was not sharing this with you you might not even notice once it happened. \u00a0That is intentional. \u00a0The change is to lesson the time each volunteer spends on INALJ, while concentrating the web maintenance down to a few key members, as opposed to the 63 head editors all individually updating the site. \u00a0It is not to change what we do. \u00a0So why even share that this change will be happening? \u00a0Because LIS professionals are highly observant and I wanted a statement online that my editors could point to if anyone did have a question. \u00a0So the change:<\/p>\n

WHAT POSITIONS ARE GOING?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Head Editor position<\/strong><\/em> is being split into two new positions as of Monday. \u00a0Head Editors, one for every state\/province\/country page that we cover, started in January 2013. \u00a0They spent on average 10 hours a week managing assistants, adding jobs, finding and formatting jobs and blogging. We found that this is too many people to keep track of and that page updating (though random and rare) was suffering.
\nWHAT ARE THE NEW POSITIONS?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Senior Editors & Senior Assistants<\/strong> <\/em>are the new titles for the split duties of the former Head Editor positions. \u00a0Senior Editors will be responsible for deleting old jobs and adding new ones that are sent to them already formatted. \u00a0Each Senior Editor will maintain anywhere from 3-8 pages and average 7-8 hours a week. \u00a0This smaller group of former Head Editors will ensure that the pages are updated Monday-Friday, no exceptions. \u00a0Senior Assistants will find and format jobs for the pages 5 days a week and spend an hour a day on this task. \u00a0Not bad and a much more reasonable time commitment for LIS volunteers, many of whom either work or are on the job hunt themselves.<\/p>\n
