Naomi:\u00a0 <\/b>Favorite library you have been to?
\nKt:<\/b>\u00a0 Severna Park Library<\/a> (part of Anne Arundel County Public Library in Maryland). For no other reason than I grew up there <3<\/p>\n

Naomi:\u00a0 <\/b>Favorite book?
\nKt:<\/b>\u00a0 This is my least favorite question! I’m not sure I even have a favorite book, just a set that I always find myself rereading. I’ll tell you what I’m reading (and listing to) right now, though: Sabbatical, a Romance<\/a> by John Barth, American Gods by Neil Gaiman, and Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness (the audio version).<\/p>\n

Naomi:\u00a0 <\/b>Favorite thing about libraries\/ library technology?
\nKt:<\/b>\u00a0 Collaboration! Libraries and their spaces provide awesome opportunities for people to work together to make new, awesome (or more awesome) products, services, programs, and even information.<\/p>\n

Naomi:\u00a0 Any <\/b>websites or feeds or blogs we should be following?
\nKt:<\/b>\u00a0 My favorite is the Digital Shift<\/a>. It’s got lots of great news and information about library technologies. I also like ALA’s Techsource<\/a>. I think it’s also important to follow the “tumblarian” and “tumblrarian” tags on tumblr–great discussion and also great gifs.<\/p>\n

Naomi:\u00a0 <\/b>Best piece of job hunting advice?
\nKt:<\/b>\u00a0 Keep a “master” cover letter with paragraphs on different topics and experience (i.e., a paragraph about your reference experience or a paragraph about that website you designed). Then you don’t have to create a new cover letter for every job–just a unique opening and closing paragraph. Just copy and paste the relevant experience into the body of the letter. Oh, and customize them a little bit.<\/p>\n

I went straight into UMD’s iSchool<\/a> from my undergrad, St. Mary’s College of Maryland. I graduated in a year and a half and used my time to focus on information and diverse populations, as well as public libraries. I ended up as the Webmaster for iDiversity<\/a>, a student group aimed to connect students, alumni, and faculty to discuss diversity issues. This led me to try and pursue digital services in my career. In the past, I’ve worked in a public library, an academic library. Now I’m currently a contract worker in a Federal library. Unfortunately, my contract will end in 2 months, but I’m excited to gain experience and explore many more libraries in the future!<\/i><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
