Why Frozen\u2019s \u201cLet it Go\u201d is the Perfect Job Hunting Anthem<\/span><\/h3>\n

\"fallon.bleich\"<\/a>I\u2019m obsessed with all things Disney. I\u2019ve been to Disney World five times and Disney Land once; I\u2019ve\u00a0seen every film at least twice; and I collect both the pins and the Vinylmations. I love me some Disney\u00a0and knew that I would love the film Frozen, because the Snow Queen is a great story and it\u2019s about two\u00a0sisters. It\u2019s nice to have a film that isn\u2019t about the girl finding the boy or vice versa (although it does\u00a0happen in this film, it\u2019s not the main point). What surprised me even more was how great the song \u201cLet\u00a0it Go\u201d is; it\u2019s the perfect anthem for job hunters and here\u2019s why:<\/p>\n

1.) It\u2019s a song about being yourself.<\/strong> The whole point of the song is about Elsa finally releasing \u00a0her magic and not hiding it anymore. Obviously, you\u2019re not going to rock magic anytime\u00a0soon, but you are going to have to rock an interview sometime soon. \u201cLet it Go\u201d talks\u00a0about being yourself and not being afraid of it. That\u2019s how you need to act in an interview!\u00a0You shouldn\u2019t act too unprofessional\/casual, but you should show your personality. The\u00a0interviewer needs to know how you\u2019re going to fit into the overall work atmosphere. Don\u2019t\u00a0be stuffy and rote, instead show how passionate you are about collection development or\u00a0youth services or whatever you\u2019re interviewing for. It\u2019s important.<\/p>\n

2.) You have to \u201clet go\u201d of the applications.<\/strong> I\u2019m seriously obsessive over things that I do; I\u00a0get anxious and worry about what is happening with it and if I should do this or that. It\u00a0took me a long time to realize that if I try my best on my cover letter and resume, then I\u00a0can\u2019t do anything else with it. It\u2019s in someone else\u2019s hands after that. The solution? Let it\u00a0go. Seriously, after you hit send or mail off your application, go take a walk, call a friend,\u00a0do some yoga, but don\u2019t even think about it again until you get that call for the interview.\u00a0It takes a lot of practice, but if you\u2019re like me, job hunting has become one giant practice\u00a0round. I\u2019m consistently practicing my searching skills, my cover letter and resume writing,\u00a0and my interview skills. You can\u2019t obsess about them and you have to let it all go until the\u00a0next step.<\/p>\n

3.) Pump yourself up.<\/strong> That\u2019s the point of this song for Elsa.\u00a0 She goes from terrifying the town\u00a0she\u2019s ruler of to building a kick butt ice castle. When you score that interview, listen to\u00a0some awesome music on the way to it. When you don\u2019t get that interview, let it go and\u00a0pump yourself up to write the next cover letter. \u201cLet it Go\u201d is about how awesome Elsa has\u00a0become by relaxing and being herself. She\u2019s on her way to her new life, as she says in the\u00a0song. That\u2019s what you\u2019re going to be doing by finding that new job.<\/p>\n

In conclusion, sure \u201cLet it Go\u201d is a silly example of an empowerment song, but a little sillyness may be\u00a0what you need to truly relax. Job hunting is super stressful; trust me, I\u2019m right there with you guys, but\u00a0it doesn\u2019t have to be. Be happy with yourself, promote your awesome skills, and like Elsa, you too will\u00a0have a happy ending.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
