Right now, it&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0345529057\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=i0fe1-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=0345529057\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Game of Thrones<\/em><\/a>. But I also love love love, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/1406897000\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=i0fe1-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=1406897000\" target=\"_blank\"><i>Pierre, or The Ambiguities<\/i><\/a>, which is the book Melville wrote after <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0142000086\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=i0fe1-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=0142000086\" target=\"_blank\">Moby Dick<\/a>, <\/i>because it&#8217;s even more reckless and I love Melville. I&#8217;m also eternally smitten with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/080213663X\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=i0fe1-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=080213663X\" target=\"_blank\"><i>The Man Who Fell In Love with the Moon <\/i><\/a>by Tom Spanbauer and anything by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/search\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_sr_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;keywords=Nathaniel%20Philbrick%20&amp;tag=i0fe1-20&amp;index=aps&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325\" target=\"_blank\">Nathaniel Philbrick <\/a>or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/search\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_sr_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;keywords=Rebecca%20Solnit&amp;tag=i0fe1-20&amp;index=aps&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325\" target=\"_blank\">Rebecca Solnit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Naomi:<\/b>\u00a0 Favorite thing about libraries\/ library technology?<br \/>\n<b>Lydia:<\/b>\u00a0 Freedom! People can access any content in a library, learn any new skill, and I love that the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/advocacy\/intfreedom\/librarybill\" target=\"_blank\">ALA&#8217;s Library Bill of Rights<\/a> secures this kind of literacy as a function of democracy among our profession.<\/p>\n<p><b>Naomi:<\/b>\u00a0 Any websites or feeds or blogs we should be following?<br \/>\n<b>Lydia:<\/b>\u00a0 I always learn something new from <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/brainpicker\" target=\"_blank\">Brain Picker<\/a> and Ru Paul is required viewing and following.<\/p>\n<p><b>Naomi:<\/b>\u00a0 Best piece of job hunting advice?<br \/>\n<b>Lydia:<\/b>\u00a0 Go local! Participate in local professional development opportunities, volunteer with local folks who you find interesting, and above all: make eye contact and don&#8217;t be creepy.<\/p>\n<p><i><a href=\"https:\/\/inalj.com\/?attachment_id=5563\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5563\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-5563\" alt=\"lydiaw2\" src=\"https:\/\/inalj.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/lydiaw21-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Lydia Willoughby is Librarian I at Vermont Technical College, where she focuses on reference services and bibliographic instruction. Willoughby has a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.liu.edu\/palmer\/\" target=\"_blank\">Master\u2019s in Library and Information Science from the Palmer School at Long Island University <\/a>(2011), as well as a Master of Arts in English Literature from The University of Montana (2006). Her research interests include 19th Century American culture, copyright law and intellectual freedom, as well as information literacy and student-centered approaches to resource discovery. Originally hailing from South Carolina, she frequently organizes library advocacy and LGBT benefits in her free time.
