\nElizabeth:<\/strong>\u00a0 The job was forwarded to me through one of the listservs I’m a part of.\u00a0 It was either through my alma mater<\/a>, or Tennessee New Members Roundtable<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Naomi:\u00a0 <\/strong>Favorite book?
\nElizabeth:\u00a0 <\/strong>Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince<\/em> <\/a>and Voltaire’s Candide<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Naomi:\u00a0 <\/strong>Favorite thing about libraries\/ library technology?
\nElizabeth:\u00a0 <\/strong>I’m so excited about the way\u00a0libraries\u00a0are constantly changing. \u00a0We are evolving with technology in order to best serve our\u00a0customers.\u00a0 Not only does it help us survive as a profession, but it keeps things very interesting!<\/p>\n

Naomi:\u00a0 <\/strong>Best piece of job hunting advice?
\nElizabeth:\u00a0 <\/strong>Focus on your strengths and only apply for jobs where you can\u00a0imagine\u00a0giving examples of those strengths\u00a0to the\u00a0interviewers. \u00a0The worst thing you\u00a0can\u00a0do is apply for every job that comes along- it causes burn out and frustration and is a complete waste of valuable job-hunting time.\u00a0 Once you put all of your energy into the jobs you are most qualified for, the interviews will hopefully start coming in!<\/p>\n

Elizabeth Hinton graduated in May 2011 from the University of Tennessee\u00a0with a M.S. in Information Science<\/a>, and in 2003, she received her B.A.\u00a0in Music from the University of\u00a0Tennessee with an emphasis in flute.\u00a0 She is a member of the American Library Association and the Medical Library Association.\u00a0 In October, she finished a postgraduate internship with Preston Medical Library at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine.\u00a0 Currently, she is a new Reference Librarian at Rowland Medical Library in the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where she provides instruction and reference services.\u00a0\u00a0 Her professional interests include the exploration of new technologies and employing new technology to improve patron services.\u00a0 \u00a0In her spare time, she enjoys playing music and exploring her new home in Mississippi.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
