\"\"<\/a>Naomi:<\/strong>\u00a0 How did you find your current job?
\nAndre:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0 I saw a position on the Thomson Reuters<\/a> website for a technical support representative. An associate who I met when he was account manager for my law firm library worked for this particular division of Thomson Reuters and referred me for the position.\u00a0 I worked in technical support for fifteen months and then I was promoted to Customer First Advisor<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Naomi:<\/strong> \u00a0Favorite library you have been to?
\nAndre:<\/strong>\u00a0 The Library of Congress<\/a>. What more can be said about the largest library in the world!<\/p>\n

Naomi:<\/strong>\u00a0 Favorite book?
\nAndre:<\/strong>\u00a0 The Goal<\/em> by Dr. Eliyahu M. Goldratt. This book is just as entertaining as it is insightful.<\/p>\n

Naomi:<\/strong>\u00a0 Favorite thing about libraries\/ library technology?
\nAndre:<\/strong>\u00a0 Libraries\/Library technologies provide access to knowledge and technology which can lead you in many different directions in life. My first exposure to the internet was at the University of Houston M.D. Anderson library<\/a> my freshman year in college had a profound influence on my current career path.<\/p>\n

Naomi:<\/strong>\u00a0 Any websites or feeds or blogs we should be following?
\nAndre:<\/strong>\u00a0 3 Geeks and a Law Blog http:\/\/www.geeklawblog.com\/<\/a>\u00a0 this blog is a great resource for law librarians and also provides great information on new technologies.<\/p>\n

Naomi:<\/strong>\u00a0 Best piece of job hunting advice?
\nAndre:<\/strong>\u00a0 Networking is not just about getting a job, or selling a product or service.\u00a0 Its main purpose is to give or get useful information.<\/p>\n

I am a native Houstonian and graduate of the University of Houston who worked in national law firm libraries for 17 years. When I was laid off in Nov 2010 the opportunity came to change careers and go back to school to work on my M.L.I.S. My background in libraries provided seamless transition into an information technology career. I work as a Disclosure Solutions Customer First Advisor for the Governance Risk and Compliance division at Thomson Reuters.\u00a0 My job is to guide our clients through the disclosure process to meet their XBRL and disclosure transparency requirements. I am currently working on my M.L.I.S. at the University of North Texas <\/a>with a focus on Information Systems with expected graduation in December 2013.<\/em><\/p>\n
