Two months ago I tentatively dipped my toe in the job market.\u00a0 I applied for a job.\u2028\u2028So, now it has been two months and I haven’t heard anything from the employer.\u00a0 No call.\u00a0 No email. Nothing.\u00a0 Now I know I shouldn’t take it personally.\u00a0 In fact, several of the other fabulous INALJ Head Editors have given great advice on just this topic.<\/p>\n

But I can’t seem to help it.\u00a0 I am frustrated, angry, disappointed, and dejected.\u00a0 I have been REJECTED.\u2028\u2028The sad part is that I’m not even sure I wanted that job in the first place.<\/strong>\u00a0 It is a library position that would\u00a0 require virtually no use of my hard-earned MLIS.\u00a0 And this would be my first post-graduation job.\u00a0 I want to use it.\u2028\u2028Mainly, I applied because it is the only library in my town (in addition to being my pre-children work place oh so long ago) and available jobs there are few and far between.\u2028\u2028So basically, I applied for a job that doesn’t require my skills and that I am not sure I want.\u00a0 And I’m upset?<\/p>\n

But dang it, regardless of my desire, or lack of desire, for the job I wanted them to want me.<\/strong>\u00a0 What an ego killer, crusher, mangler.\u2028\u2028I guess I should take Ralph Waldo Emerson’s advice.\u00a0 Do not waste yourself in rejection; do not bark against the bad, but chant the beauty of the good.<\/p>\n

That sounds good.\u00a0 That sounds easy.\u00a0 Right?<\/p>\n

I’m not sure if I’m ready to test the waters again.\u00a0 I think I have some INALJ articles to reread.<\/p>\n
