\nErin: <\/strong>The job posting for my new position was on Dice.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Naomi: <\/strong>Favorite library you have been to?
\nErin: <\/strong>My favorite library was a small room in the Parasitological Museum in Meguro (Tokyo) Japan<\/a>. It’s the only museum dedicated to human and animal parasites.<\/p>\n

Naomi: <\/strong>Favorite book?
\nErin: <\/strong>My favorite book is Never Let Me Go <\/em>by Kazuo Ishiguro.<\/p>\n

Naomi: <\/strong>Favorite thing about libraries\/ library technology?
\nErin: <\/strong>My favorite thing about library technology is that it isn’t particular about which domains it is influenced by. Solutions are solutions.<\/p>\n

Naomi: <\/strong>Any websites or feeds or blogs we should be following?
\nErin: <\/strong>I would definitely follow the DLF twitter feed<\/a>, lots of excellent opportunities posted and news about upcoming conferences and symposia.<\/p>\n

Naomi: <\/strong>Best piece of job hunting advice?
\nErin: <\/strong>Don’t be afraid to ask for what you’re worth!<\/p>\n

I’ve worked at the Field Museum in Chicago for the past 10 years as a genetics researcher. After a decade of collecting data and seeing the lack of infrastructure for organizing and preserving that data, I decided to pursue an MS in Library and Information Science at UIUC, specializing in Data Curation. GSLIS at UIUC caters to people who come from and want to work in a hugely diverse set of academic domains and the program was an excellent choice for me. I just accepted an offer to work at Integrys\/Peoples Gas as an Application Analyst, where I will use many of the technical skills I honed during my graduate studies.<\/em><\/p>\n
