10 Tips for the First Day<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n

\"ashleycrace\"<\/a>You have searched, applied, and interviewed for a very long time (it definitely feels that way).\u00a0 Finally, you land a job!\u00a0 And, your first day is suddenly just around the corner.<\/p>\n

The job search can really become a job in itself<\/b>.\u00a0 So much so, that it might be difficult to transition to actually starting the job!\u00a0 By the time you are ready for your first day, you own professional attire (at least from your interview wardrobe), have determined the geographical location (most likely in an interview), and have reviewed the job description (during the application process).\u00a0 What else can you do to prepare for the first day?\u00a0 <\/b>I have compiled a few tips to help make the first day just a little bit easier (and, hopefully the tips will help you sleep better the night before).<\/p>\n

  1. Sleep the night before<\/strong>\u2026and before that and before that.\u00a0 If you have kept yourself on a schedule, this should be easy.<\/li>\n
  2. Eat breakfast.\u00a0<\/strong> Pack a lunch (even if you opt to go somewhere with co-workers or a supervisor, have a lunch prepared).<\/li>\n
  3. Find out where the restrooms are,<\/strong> the water fountains, the break rooms, kitchen, anything else you might need.\u00a0 Also, find out what to do in an emergency (fire, tornado, etc.)<\/li>\n
  4. Remember the names of people you meet<\/strong> (make a cheat sheet if necessary).<\/li>\n
  5. Ask questions.<\/strong>\u00a0 Clarify points that seem confusing.<\/li>\n
  6. Do one thing to make your space feel more you<\/strong> (even if it is just leaving a sweater draped over your chair).<\/li>\n
  7. Start keeping a calendar<\/strong> (it will fill up quickly).<\/li>\n
  8. Say \u201cThank you!\u201d often.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  9. Make a to-do list<\/strong> for the next day.<\/li>\n
