{"id":27866,"date":"2013-06-13T10:18:33","date_gmt":"2013-06-13T14:18:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/inalj.com\/?p=27866"},"modified":"2013-06-13T10:20:49","modified_gmt":"2013-06-13T14:20:49","slug":"interviewing-a-roundup-of-advice-on-what-they-can-and-cannot-ask-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/inalj.com\/?p=27866","title":{"rendered":"Interviewing: A Roundup of Advice on What They Can and Cannot Ask You"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>by Naomi House<\/em><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Interviewing: A Roundup of Advice on What They Can and Cannot Ask You<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/inalj.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/inalj-april-2013-worditout.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-21308 alignright\" alt=\"inalj april 2013 worditout\" src=\"https:\/\/inalj.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/inalj-april-2013-worditout-300x149.jpg\" width=\"210\" height=\"104\" srcset=\"https:\/\/inalj.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/inalj-april-2013-worditout-300x149.jpg 300w, https:\/\/inalj.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/inalj-april-2013-worditout.jpg 796w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 210px) 100vw, 210px\" \/><\/a>Recently we have been sharing lots of our own tips and advice on the interviewing process.\u00a0 One question that is on many interviewee&#8217;s minds is, what can they legally ask me?\u00a0 We have found lots of advice from around the web and through government sources and wanted to share what we have found in a short list.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.eeoc.gov\/laws\/index.cfm\" target=\"_blank\">EEOC <\/a>publishes laws and regulations covering employment including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eeoc.gov\/laws\/statutes\/titlevii.cfm\" target=\"_blank\">Title VII of the Civil Rights Act<\/a> of 1964.\u00a0 \u00a0 You may also be interested in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eeoc.gov\/laws\/other.cfm\" target=\"_blank\">workplace laws not enforced by the EEOC<\/a> too such as<a href=\"http:\/\/www.justice.gov\/crt\/about\/cor\/coord\/titlevi.php\" target=\"_blank\"> Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.askamanager.org\/2013\/05\/salary-when-you-dont-know-what-the-job-is-illegal-interview-questions-and-more.html\" target=\"_blank\">Ask A Manager<\/a> says <em>&#8220;there\u2019s no such thing as an illegal interview question, other than questions asking about disabilities. All the other ones that people think are illegal \u2014 questions about kids, marital status, ethnicity, religion, etc. \u2014 aren\u2019t illegal.
