\nScott:<\/b>\u00a0 I found my Manager of Digital Library Services postion at Jones eGlobal Library<\/a> through an old classmate from the University of Denver.\u00a0\u00a0This signified my acceptance of three full-time positions in less than a calendar year.\u00a0 I must admit that it has been quite an amazing two years post degree.\u00a0 Even though I revamped my Linkedin profile<\/a>\u00a0and swarmed the web for various openings, in the end,\u00a0I relyed on my contacts within my professional network.<\/p>\n

Naomi:<\/b>\u00a0 Favorite library you have been to?
\nScott:<\/b>\u00a0 My favorite newly renovated library is the Central Branch of the\u00a0St. Louis Public Library<\/a>.\u00a0 It recently re-opened after being closed for a $79 million project.\u00a0 To watch the 100 year transformation of this landmark library enjoy this short video<\/a>.\u00a0 It is building that has been able to maintain a harmonious\u00a0ballance\u00a0between\u00a0new generation technology and the history of a city.<\/p>\n

Naomi:<\/b>\u00a0 Favorite book?
\nScott:<\/b>\u00a0 I recently re-read A Confederacy of Dunces<\/a> <\/i>by John Kennedy Toole and it was just as funny as I had remembered.\u00a0 It is a colorful and absolutely hilarious piece that should be read by every librarian who loves to laugh!<\/p>\n

Naomi:<\/b>\u00a0 Favorite thing about libraries\/ library technology?
\nScott:<\/b>\u00a0 I love people who love libraries!\u00a0My passion is to maintain and improve the quality of life for all citizens by providing resources that enhance and contribute to individual knowledge, enlightenment, and enjoyment in the most efficient manner possible.\u00a0 I especially recognize my responsibility to serve and encourage children and young adults to discover the joy of reading, research, and the value of libraries in their community.<\/p>\n

Naomi:<\/b>\u00a0 Any websites or feeds or blogs we should be following?
\nScott:<\/b>\u00a0 I made a huge discovery when I ran across Comedy 103.1<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0You can listen to it\u00a0while you work on a project or\u00a0on your commute to\/from work.\u00a0 It is the\u00a0ultimate home for 24\/7\u00a0comedy!<\/p>\n

Naomi:<\/b>\u00a0 Best piece of job hunting advice?
\nScott:<\/b>\u00a0 You need to set\u00a0high goals and work\u00a0extremely hard to not only reach them, but surpass them.\u00a0\u00a0The most difficult item at times is to make a sacrifice in life to get where you\u00a0ideally want to be.\u00a0 I highly encourage for you to remain\u00a0optomistic in your job search, continue to make new contacts,\u00a0and always be thinking about your next strategic step.<\/p>\n

I come from a long line of Wisconsin mink ranchers, yes, who would have guessed?!?\u00a0 Currently, I\u00a0am a trained educator and information specialist managing a highly skilled team of librarians who help put credible resources into the hands of curious users.\u00a0\u00a0When I’m not writing articles or conducting research on information seeking behaviors, I enjoy presenting to students and educators on navigating the internet in a fast and fluid manner.
