You can sign up as a member for free (can&#8217;t argue with that price)<a href=\"http:\/\/lwb-online.org\/?page_id=13\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> here.<\/a> As a member you&#8217;ll receive e-newsletters about our work, including any volunteer or donation opportunities. You can also like us on<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/librarianswithoutborders\"> Facebook<\/a> to keep in the loop.<\/p>\n<p>Like any non-profit, we always welcome<a href=\"http:\/\/lwb-online.org\/?page_id=13\"> monetary donations<\/a> to help us run our programs. Right now, we have a donation drive to help fund a stipend for a librarian in Guatemala. Our team are all volunteers, so the money we raise is all for our work.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Naomi:<\/strong> \u00a0Can you speak a little about your experiences with libraries? \u00a0Any favorite libraries or experiences with them?<br \/>\n<strong>Melanie:<\/strong>\u00a0 I&#8217;m the Education Services Librarian at Marymount College, a private liberal arts college in Los Angeles. \u00a0I&#8217;ve been here four years now, and spent my first two years post-MLIS at the University of California, Irvine. In my previous life I was a computational linguist and technical writer. I was converted when I met a really engaging librarian at a very wintery party in Ottawa, Canada. I had never considered the career before that day, although I had been searching for a new pathway. It really was an &#8220;aha&#8221; moment for me.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Naomi: \u00a0<\/strong>Favorite book(s)?<br \/>\n<strong>Melanie: \u00a0<\/strong>I&#8217;m such a Canadian: I love<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/search\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_sr_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;index=aps&amp;keywords=%20Margaret%20Atwood&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=i0fe1-20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Margaret Atwood<\/a>. I&#8217;ve also recently realized how much I enjoy the genre of magical realism.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Naomi: \u00a0<\/strong>Favorite adaptation (book to film or even film to book)?<br \/>\n<strong>Melanie:<\/strong> \u00a0Lord of the Rings trilogy. (But I really wasn&#8217;t into The Hobbit).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Naomi:<\/strong> \u00a0Are there any blogs or websites we should be following?<br \/>\n<strong>Melanie: \u00a0<\/strong>Well certainly <a href=\"http:\/\/lwb-online.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Librarians Without Borders<\/a>!
